Locked in the washing machine that was on: the police opened a case against the girl who abused the raccoon

Animal rights activists at UAnimals contacted the police when they saw the video of the raccoon being abused. The victim was a girl from Ivano-Frankivsk, who published a video of bullying a raccoon on a social network. This was reported by the volunteer association “House of Sulfur SOS”. On February 21, animal rights activists published a screenshot of Karolina’s girlfriend’s Instagram page. According to them, the latter posted a video on social networks with a raccoon locked in a running washing machine. The post of the volunteer organization was removed by Instagram due to “violation of community rules”. But volunteers later reposted it on Facebook. The police of the Ivano-Frankivsk region noted that they have started an investigation into the fact of animal cruelty. Currently, the police are establishing the identity of the offender, as well as all the circumstances of the incident. Volunteers believe that the girl’s actions can be interpreted as cruelty to animals, which, moreover, is widespread in videos on social networks. For this, the Criminal Code provides for imprisonment from 5 to 8 years. Screenshot from the video and correspondence from the animal rights page “We were shocked – and that’s an understatement. Such cruel treatment of animals has no explanation or justification. We also ask the police to remove the raccoon, because the further stay of the animal with such an owner threatens its life “, UAnimals noted.
