Medical and social expert commissions (MSEK) will cease to exist on January 1, 2025. This was announced by the Minister of Health Viktor Lyashko on the air of the telethon on April 21, 2023. “We have set a goal that they will be gone from January 1, 2925,” the minister said. According to Lyashko, in order to replace the MSEK system with a modern system of rehabilitation and adaptation, changes to 19 laws and 49 by-laws are necessary. MSEK will cease to exist on January 1, 2025. However, the head of the Ministry of Health assured that these changes will be made. In particular, they plan to create multidisciplinary rehabilitation teams and convert the MSEK system into an electronic format. First, a person who needs long-term rehabilitation will be admitted to a health care facility. On the basis of these institutions, multidisciplinary rehabilitation teams will be formed, which will develop an individual rehabilitation plan. Some people with disabilities will need training if the loss of functionality prevents them from returning to their old job. A service social service will be available for people who will not be able to work. Through the Ministry of Social Policy, the person will be provided with help from a social worker, and the state will compensate for some costs.
