More than 36 million people live in Ukraine – UN Population Fund

The report notes that, on average, a woman in Ukraine lives 10 years longer than a man. In particular, the average life expectancy of a woman is 78 years, and a man is 68 years. The total fertility rate (the average number of children a woman of reproductive age) in Ukraine in 2023 is considered by the Population Fund to be one of the lowest in recent years – 2.19. In 2020, this indicator was 2.30, and in 2013 – 2.44. The UN Foundation adds that in 2023, 54% of all women in Ukraine will use contraception. 68% of women who are married or in civil or civil marriages use protection.
