More than 60% of Ukrainians support the transition to the new church calendar – survey

63% of surveyed Ukrainians support the transition to the new church calendar. 18% are against it, and another 17% are indifferent to it. This is evidenced by the results of a study conducted on June 1-2, 2023 by the “Rating” sociological group. The greatest number of supporters of the transition are among Greek Catholics – 92%. Infographic: Sociological group “Rating” More than 60% of parishioners of the OCU/UPC (KP) support the initiative to switch to a new calendar, which, in particular, involves moving the date of Christmas. In addition, more than 40% of UOC (MP) parishioners are in favor of changing the calendar. At the same time, 35% of them oppose this initiative. In general, the most supporters of the transition are among the residents of the west – 78%. The support of people from the eastern and southern regions is less, but about half are “in favor” of moving the date of Christmas. It was attended by 1,000 Ukrainians aged 18 and over from all regions, except for the temporarily occupied territories of Crimea and Donbas, as well as territories where there is no Ukrainian mobile communication at the time of the survey.
