The Ukrainian full-length animation “Mavka. Forest Song” collected more than UAH 81 million at the box office in three weekends of rental. Thus, the cartoon set a new box office record among Ukrainian films. Having collected UAH 81,848,415 in box office fees, the animation surpassed the previous record holder – the film “I, You, He, She” directed by Volodymyr Zelenskyi and David Dodson. This romantic comedy was released in 2018 and collected 71.1 million UAH at the Ukrainian box office. This is not the first record for “Mavka” – for the first weekend of rental, the cartoon collected UAH 25 million, which was the best result from the collection among domestic releases. “Mavka. Forest Song” is a Ukrainian cartoon by the Animagrad studio based on the play by Lesya Ukrainka. The animation was directed by Oleg Malamuzh and Oleksandr Ruban. Work on the tape took almost seven years, which made “Mavka” one of the longest-running film projects. The main characters were voiced by Natalka Denisenko, Artem Pivovarov, Olena Kravets, Dzidzio, Yulia Sanina, Oleg Skrypka and others. The cartoon was released in Ukrainian cinemas on March 2.
