According to the journalist, Honcharuk received 6 votes, Victoria Vodka – 3 votes in the competition, which began on Monday, February 6, at 10:00. Two candidates did not receive votes from the commission, and one withdrew his candidacy in favor of Honcharuk. After the competition ended, Honcharuk called the result “unexpected”, although she noted that the commission is professional and well-known in the film industry. “It is unbelievable that governing bodies can manipulate contests and, unfortunately, the 2021 contest confirmed this. Contests were designed as a democratic procedure, so if you “hack” contests as well, it’s too much. That’s why I decided to go to it as on the only possible tool to regulate relations between the governing body and the Dovzhenko Center,” she added. According to her, the protocol of the commission must be signed, which must be approved by State Cinema. The consequence of this agreement should be the conclusion of a contract with her as the head of the Center. Honcharuk’s victory was also announced by the Dovzhenko Center on its social networks. The second stage of the meeting of the competition commission, which elects the director of the Dovzhenko Center, was supposed to take place on February 3. It was supposed to take place in the central building of “Kyivnaukfilm”, but before the start it became known about the alleged “mining” of the Derzhkino building. The police arrived at the scene and blocked the entrance to the administrative building. The members of the competition commission and other participants of the meeting waited on the street for about four hours while the premises were “demined”. Derzhkino refused to hold the meeting in another room. It also became known the day before that against one of the candidates, Acting General Director Olena Honcharuk, who has been managing the institution for the past two years, opened a case. The proceedings were registered in the evening of February 2, while the meeting was scheduled for mid-day on February 3. Honcharuk won the competition for the position of head of the Dovzhenko Center, replacing the previous head Ivan Kozlenko. However, the results of the competition were never officially approved, and Honcharuk managed the institution in the acting capacity. In her place, a temporary new acting director was appointed. Julia Khazdan. After the protests of the Khazhdan community, which did not have specialized work experience, it removed itself.
