Pilot language courses for the military have been launched in Ukraine. Currently, they are available to defenders who are in the 150 training center of the command of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The training was started together with the “Yedini” project, said Taras Kremin, Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language.

“I owe the appearance of such courses to all military personnel who, improving their language skills, demonstrate a responsible attitude to the foundations of national identity.” – emphasized the language ombudsman.

As co-founder and head of the project Natalka Fedechko told in a comment for “UP. Life”, five classes were prepared for military training.

“This will continue during the month when the soldiers are in the training center. We will also teach them the Ukrainian language. The soldiers themselves are interested in this initiative.” – she noted.

The first class took place on February 21, the International Day of the Ukrainian Language. According to Fedechko, 30 military personnel previously signed up for it in a voluntary format. However, more than 40 defenders came to study.

During the class, the emphasis was on business speech. It was conducted by Oleksandr Cherkas, a teacher at the Ivan Bohun Kyiv Military Lyceum and a Global Teacher Prize Ukraine finalist.

“We are very happy that the command is interested in learning the Ukrainian language. This is very important for both morale and cultural stability.” – said the project manager.

She also emphasized that her team is ready to expand the number of training centers for teaching.

“We will see what the military needs, hear their feedback – and then we will be able to scale.

I would like these courses to move from the initiative and public implementation to the state level. We have been waiting for the creation of such a program for five years.” Natalka Fedechko shared.

We will remind you that Taras Kremin announced his intention to create language courses for the military at the end of January this year.
