Poisoning of students in Poltava: Escherichia coli was found in the food from the cafeteria

In Poltava, after the mass poisoning of students, when 27 people were admitted to the hospital, the canteen where they could eat was checked and numerous violations were found there.
In particular, Escherichia coli was found in the shawarma and cutlets from the dining room, reports the Main Department of the State Production and Consumer Service of the Poltava Region.
On December 5, as part of the investigation, the police and specialists of the State Production and Consumer Service of the Poltava Region visited the “Student Cafe”, where students could eat, and took samples for research.
The results of a laboratory study showed the content of Escherichia coli in shawarma and cutlets.

The infection was also found in hygienic washes from spoons, cups, glasses, a table for clean kitchen utensils, a knife for cutting cooked vegetables, and a grater.
In addition, Escherichia coli bacteria were found in two washes from containers for ready meals and from a table for processing raw materials.
The facility also recorded violations in the ingredients, namely:
- in the chicken fillet and sweet cream oil, there is a discrepancy in the content of necessary microorganisms (KMAFAnM);
- in cabbage – excess nitrate content;
- water contaminated with coliform bacteria is a group of bacteria that are found in high concentrations in the feces of people and warm-blooded animals.
It is reported that some time after the first inspection, specialists visited the institution again.
However, the representatives of the educational institution, on the territory of which the canteen is located, did not let them into the premises.
Specialists of the State Production and Consumer Service contacted the police.
We will remind you that on the night of December 6, 27 students of the Yaroslav the Wise Poltava Law Institute of NYU were hospitalized with signs of poisoning.
According to preliminary information, the students ate in the cafeteria of the Poltava Polytechnic named after Yury Kondratyuk.
