Poland has updated the rules for importing animals from Ukraine: what has changed

Due to a full-scale invasion, Poland in 2022 allowed Ukrainians to evacuate with pets under simplified rules. In April 2023, the general conditions for the import of animals, which are valid on the territory of the EU, were returned, the Ministry of Reintegration reported. Now, in order to import an animal, it is necessary for the pet to have a chip. The owner must have the following documents for the animal: vaccination against rabies; veterinary passport of the European model; health certificate; a written declaration confirming that the import of the four-legged animal is not commercial; results of testing the level of anti-rabies antibodies. For example, the owner of a mini-shelter from Kharkiv Oblast, Alyona Tulyakova, was forced to leave for Russia. She saved more than 80 cats. Anastasia Tykha took more than 20 animals out of Irpen under fire. Oleksiy Surovtsev also took more than 200 animals from a bombed-out town in the Kyiv region.
