Olena Petrolai is a canine inspector of the canine center in the Kyiv region police. She went to help the wounded as a result of the Russian shelling of Kherson. The girl was injured while rescuing others, the National Police reported. The dog breeder ended up in the city on one of the days when Kherson was subjected to a large-scale attack by the Russians. She was driving as part of an explosive group in the center of the city, near the hypermarket, where the rocket hit. There were many wounded inside, but the entrance to the supermarket was blocked by fragments of metal structures. The dog trainer, together with her colleagues, began to sort out the blockages, later she provided first aid to the victims and stopped the bleeding. “People’s injuries were simply terrible. Due to the severity of the condition of the victims, they could not be immediately taken outside, and within a few minutes, the Russian military hit the premises of the store for the second time with an anti-aircraft missile system,” the National Police said. According to Elena, due to the strong tension, she did not even feel that she was injured by shrapnel. She was thrown to the ground by the blast wave, and only then did she see that her arms and legs were covered in blood. The woman was taken to Mykolaiv hospital. Currently, Olena is undergoing treatment, but she already has a plan for “after recovery”: she wants to return to Kherson with her service shepherd Pan – she will help explosives deminers. And also – to join the liberation of the Arabat Arrow of Heniche district – her small Motherland. Before the start of the full-scale invasion, the canine was on duty at the Chongar checkpoint.
