Two men have been charged in the US for allegedly shooting birds and selling their body parts and feathers on the black market.
The indictment alleges that the Americans killed approximately 3,600 birds, including bald eagles, which are protected by federal law, NBC News reported.
The men – 42-year-old Simon Paul and 48-year-old Travis John Branson – are suspected of conspiracy, violation of the Bald Eagle Protection Act and illegal sale of birds.
Also, the indictment lists 13 separate cases of violations of the Law on the Protection of Bald Eagles. They are the national birds of the United States and are featured on money and the state seal.
