In Ghana, a woman organized a five-day singing marathon. She claims a place in the Guinness Book of Records, BBC and Deutsche Welle report.
33-year-old entrepreneur and former beauty queen Afua Asantewaa Aduonum sang for 126 hours and 52 minutes. According to Guinness World Records rules, she was entitled to a 5-minute break every hour or a 20-minute break every four hours.
Asantewaa started singing on December 24, the eve of Christmas, in one of the parks of Accra, the capital of Ghana. She surpassed the previous record of a singer from India by almost 24 hours.
The woman performed 125 Ghanaian songs in the genres of gospel, high-life and hip-life. In this way, Asantewaa wanted to promote the culture of her country.

Next to her was a DJ who was turning on the soundtrack. Asantewaa could pause within a song or between songs for no more than 30 seconds.
The marathon became a sensation among the residents of the capital, so they began to gather to see it live. So that Asantevaa would not be distracted by the noise, she performed behind a transparent glass.
“It was just a dream come true in just five days. I don’t even remember how it started, let alone how it ended.
We hope and believe that this will be an inspiration for all women, youth and others to step out of their comfort zone and try new opportunities.” Afua Asantewaa said after her singing marathon.
Now the Guinness Book of World Records will conduct a thorough study of the singing recording to confirm the new record.
We will remind, in Germany, a couple set a world record by decorating 555 Christmas trees at home.
