The Ternopil National Pedagogical University named after Volodymyr Hnatyuk suspended the course, the teacher of which got into a scandal because of sexist statements.

In his lectures, he stated that girls supposedly provoke rape themselves, and consent to sex is understood differently by both sexes, and violence in the eyes of a man is a “continuation of courtship.”

It is about the course “Pedagogy: preparing young people for family life”, taught by Professor Volodymyr Kravets. Currently, the teaching of this discipline has been suspended, reports the press service of Ternopil National Pedagogical University named after Volodymyr Hnatyuk.

The university has assembled a commission that must give an expert assessment of the course’s educational materials. The university will also evaluate the knowledge of students who attended the Tailor’s course.

We will remind you that Volodymyr Kravets is a professor of the department of pedagogy and management of education and adviser to the rector of the university. After one of his lectures, Yulia, a student of Ternopil National Pedagogical University, published photos from the presentation in her TikTok, in which there were manifestations of sexism.

In his materials, the teacher divided logic into “female and male”, where “female” is “not a studied subject, it is unpredictable”, and “male” is “correct”.

“Male logic is more correct, female logic is more interesting. Male logic is based on facts, female logic is as I wish, so it will be”– said in the presentation of Volodymyr Kravets.

Such statements caused a wave of indignation among students.

“What outraged me the most were the old stereotypes about the existence of male and female logic, and even more about rape, that the victim is to blame for it. And that men are animals, and women’s business is to give birth to children.” – said Ternopil University student Vlada Kabushkina in a comment on TV-4 channel.

Later, Volodymyr Kravets said in a hromadske comment that these passages were taken out of context and that he “never insulted women”.

“I specifically directed the lectures I read to you. And where is the sexism there?”, says the teacher.
