Test strips and painkillers: in Ukraine, the list of “Available medicines” has been expanded

The Ministry of Health has updated the list of medicines and medical products that are subject to reimbursement. Among them are test strips for glucometers and painkillers, the National Health Service of Ukraine reported. The relevant order is available on the website of the Ministry of Health from August 10, 2023. It enters into force on August 31, 2023. Test strips for determining the level of glucose in the blood will be available to patients diagnosed with type I diabetes. And from October 2023 – only with an electronic prescription,” the National Health Service notes. Palliative patients can receive painkillers for free or with a partial co-payment. They will be dispensed exclusively by electronic prescription. Painkillers will be available to patients with the following diagnoses: stage III-IV oncology; HIV infection/AIDS; tuberculosis in late stage; congenital malformations; cardiovascular, neurological, atrophic-degenerative and other progressive diseases. Morphine in granules, solution and tablets was added to the reimbursement program. In total, the updated register includes 411 medicines, of which 72 are insulin preparations, 9 combined medicines and 23 medical products (including test strips).
