As a result of a Russian drone hitting a residential building in Odessa died 12 people. Five of them are children.

Among the dead are 31-year-old Anna Haydarzhi and her 4-month-old son Timofey. Anna’s husband Serhiy and her two-year-old daughter Lisa miraculously survived.

Anna’s brother Andriy Sidak told “UP. Life” that the couple met at a summer camp. In 2020, they got married, and a year later – in October 2021 – their daughter Lisa was born.

Anna ran her blog, where she shared family photos, and Serhiy is the director of a company that restores car airbags.

When the full-scale invasion began, Anna and Sergey came home to their parents.

“We all cried and hugged each other, because no one knew what would happen next. We didn’t know if we would see each other again. Everyone was very afraid,” – recalls the brother of the deceased.

At first, Anna wanted to go abroad, but in the end she stayed with Serhiy in Odesa.

Andriy learned about the trouble that happened to his relatives from his sister.

“She called and said that Anya was under rubble. Serhii informed her about this – she and Lizi fell asleep in the next room, so they miraculously survived.

My wife and I immediately got into the car and drove off. I don’t even remember how and what I was wearing – everything seems to be in a fog. What we felt at that moment, I wouldn’t wish anyone to go through.” the man shares.

After arriving at the place, he went up to the couple’s apartment.

“The kitchen remained intact, only household appliances were damaged. In the room where Serhiy and Lizi slept, the window was broken, there was a lot of smoke and dust.

I wanted to go further – to where Anyuta was, but I couldn’t… I started to suffocate… I ran outside…

But when I saw the bedroom where Anya and Timofeyk were, I realized that I couldn’t help them anymore… The room was completely destroyed.” says Andriy Sidak.

Although he wanted to, he could not join the rescue operation. Employees of the State Emergency Service asked bystanders to leave the house due to the risk of a large concrete slab falling from above.

Anna’s body and her four-month-old baby were unblocked on the evening of March 2. The rescuers found them in their arms – the mother pressed her son to her chest. According to Andriy, the conclusions of the examination show that the death occurred instantly – in a dream.

The brother of the deceased calls it a miracle that her husband Serhiy and her daughter survived.

“He always puts his daughter to bed, and then returns to Anya’s room. And that night he slept with Lizi. Apparently, this should have happened so that the little one did not become an orphan.” – suggests Andrii

Serhii and Lizi have no physical injuries.

“Sergiy is very strong. He is trying to hold on for the sake of his daughter. But he still hasn’t accepted what happened.” – says the brother.

Little Lizzy does not yet understand that her mother and younger brother are no longer there.

“We held an evening in memory of Timosh and Anyuta. Serhii and Lizi were also there. She was looking for her mother all over the hall, calling for her. Those present were crying. Lizi still does not understand what happened.” – says the man.

Andriy says that Anna has always been a bright person for him.

“She smiled a lot. She took everything very seriously. She worked on herself and wanted to become better.

Anya loved life and her family above all else. She is an example for all of us.” – he emphasizes.

Relatives they ask about financial assistance, because Serhiy and Liza now have no home.
