The Cabinet of Ministers adopted a decision on changes in the conduct of the exam for proficiency in the state language.

A writing task was added to it and the duration increased.

The written part of the exam will consist of test tasks and writing a text on a given topic. The oral part, a monologue, will remain unchanged.

The duration of the exam will vary depending on its objectives:

  • for people who are required to know the state language and use it during the performance of official duties – 60 minutes (was 30);
  • for people who intend to obtain Ukrainian citizenship – 150 minutes (was 120).

The written and oral parts of the exam will be conducted in the form of an anonymous computer-based online exam.

The changes will be implemented from January 1, 2024.

We will remind, according to the study, about 5% of mass media sites do not have a Ukrainian version.
