The Cabinet of Ministers has simplified the procedure for granting and withdrawing the status of a participant in hostilities, reducing the number of documents required for this to one certificate. This was reported by the representative of the government in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnychuk. According to him, changes have been made to the procedure for granting and withdrawing the status of combatant to people who defended the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and participated in the anti-terrorist operation. In order to receive a status for consideration by the commission on determining the status of a participant in hostilities, it is necessary to provide one certificate of participation in hostilities. The condition for granting the status of UBD for servicemen is that they perform combat tasks personally or as part of a military unit. At the same time, there are no requirements regarding the number of days of stay in the areas of hostilities. To confirm participation in hostilities, you must have at least one of these documents. The status of UBD can be obtained by a person who participated in measures for the defense of the country, the protection of the safety of the population and the interests of the state in connection with the military aggression of the Russian Federation after February 24, 2022. The holder of the status is entitled to benefits and guarantees defined by the current legislation, in particular the Law of Ukraine “On the Status of War Veterans, Guarantees of Their Social Protection”.
