The collection of the Odesa National Art Museum was not damaged during the Russian missile attack on the night of November 6, because it was evacuated in advance.

Oleg Kiper, the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, announced this.

We have to reassure society about the museum collection. The Odesa regional state administration together with the museum and the NGO “Museum for change” evacuated most of the collection in advance, the so-called red and yellow lines. The rest of the exhibits are in storage“, Kiper assured.

He added that the Commission for the Survey of Cultural Heritage Objects is currently working on the territory of the museum.

According to Kiper, the paintings from the exhibitions that were currently on display at the National Museum of Contemporary Art were not affected.

This information was confirmed by the director of the museum, Kateryna Kulai. “There was no significant damage to the paintings. Those damages that are this is pollination. There is a possibility that there is damage to one painting. But we will look at the acts, maybe they were there before that. But even those paintings that flew away, they were not damaged, except for dust“, she told Suspilno.

According to the director, after the rocket attack on November 6, the museum’s windows and ceiling were damaged, and putty fell on the walls. At the end of Monday, restorers are waiting here, who will carefully examine the paintings.

Earlier it became known that the Russian missile attack on the night of November 6 severely damaged the building of the Odessa Art Museum, which is located in the area of ​​the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The rocket hit the road right in front of the museum.

The museum planned to celebrate its 124th anniversary today, but instead the institution was closed for a week to repair the damage and canceled all festive events and Free Entrance Day planned for the museum’s birthday.

During the attack, works from seven exhibitions of works by contemporary artists from private collections were damaged. Among them: robots Margit and Roman Selsky, Oleksandr Grekhov, Kinder Album and others.
