The drug “Postinor”, which is taken for emergency contraception, will not be excluded from the list of prescription drugs. This was announced by Minister of Health Viktor Lyashko during a meeting with journalists on May 8. It is impossible to withdraw a medicinal product from the prescription list if it is the manufacturer’s decision, as in the case of the “Postinor” drug. “It is not possible to determine whether a medicinal product can be issued without a prescription, if the manufacturer of this medicinal product, in particular, the one who submitted it for registration, defines the medicinal product as a prescription drug,” said Viktor Lyashko. However, there will be increased control over the dispensing of prescription drugs after the end of martial law in the country. “We do not enter into the policy of some strict regulation without understanding what the ultimate goal is. We have a clear goal – to ensure the availability, quality and free of charge of medical care. Self-medication with a large number of drugs that someone suggested or someone wrote on a piece of paper and said that it is ok,” – said the minister. The implementation of electronic prescriptions, as well as increased control over the dispensing of prescription drugs, will be “introduced” into the reimbursement program in the future, so that the state can reimburse the cost of the drug. Previously, we told the position of doctors on whether emergency contraceptives (in particular, the drug Postinor) should be dispensed by prescription. Read also: Postinor, Nimesil, alcohol.
