The National Guardsman with the call sign “Owl” has been protecting Ukraine from the Russian invaders for two years, during which time he suffered a shrapnel wound.

The combat path of the “Owl” began with the infantry. At first, he performed the role of “gunner-paramedic” and took part in heavy battles against the Russian occupiers in Donetsk region, according to the National Guard.

At that time, the main tasks were repelling Russian assaults and evacuating the wounded. The man recalls that the enemy tried to take the number of personnel and used armored and lightly armored vehicles.

“We gave them a decent rebuff. Until now, all the borders and positions we had are ours. But they are already under the control of neighboring brigades,” – he says

Later, the soldier ended up in the Zaporizhzhia direction – “Sova” came there already as an UAV operator. The following tasks appeared before him: detection of the enemy’s manpower, fire means and monitoring of the movement of equipment.

The defender says that the main problems faced by aerial reconnaissance units during their work are the action of the enemy’s EW (radio-electronic warfare) and weather conditions.

“Here we are fighting with a regular army, which shows a decent result. You should not underestimate the enemy. The enemy learns – this is a fact. It learns from our mistakes. This is also a fact”, – notes “Owl”.

The man reflects that there is a job in the army for everyone, and the necessary skills can be acquired during training and with the help of training.

“If you have a desire – there is an opportunity to be anyone, whoever you like (to be – ed.) to your heart’s desire. The main thing is the desire”, – he emphasizes.

The soldier also told a story about how, during the provision of first aid, he himself suffered shrapnel wounds to his right forearm, which left him unable to feel his hand.

“During my work, I heard a report on the radio station that we have wounded people. I was the closest to them and went to provide them with first aid, as their condition was of varying severity. I managed to stabilize them and hand them over for evacuation, but while providing assistance to them , I was injured too. I couldn’t feel my arm, my arm just hung there. Thanks to the rehabilitation specialist, I am back in action and I am doing my tasks,” – says the military.

At the same time, at the front, “Owl” from time to time still tries to “switch” and mentally rest. Gazing at the sunset or spending time with pets is said to help.

“I’m trying to find something beautiful” – he adds.

“Owl” says that he is constantly thinking about the future.

“I think about the future of our country, about the future of my family, which I want to form. But the war took away this opportunity from me. Now I have one thing – victory,” – the fighter shares.

He believes that victory will be achieved if the people are united and realize that the war in Ukraine is everywhere.

“The war is not only here, not only in these regions – Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Luhansk. The war is in the whole of Ukraine. You should not divide and divide.”says the soldier.

We will remind you that earlier we told the story of a NSU cadet who passed through a semi-encirclement, was wounded and went into battle again.
