The first “Safety School” of the State Service for Emergency Situations in Ukraine was opened in Lviv Oblast. Schoolchildren will be taught the rules of mine and fire safety, as well as safe behavior in general. The opening of the facility at the Sambir district administration of the State Emergency Service in the Lviv region took place on May 5, the State Emergency Service reports. The “Safety School” is divided into several zones. One of the school’s rooms is a classroom, where children will learn the rules of mine safety, as well as be able to practically apply various safety skills. The second zone is the kitchen, where boys and girls will be taught safety rules for handling electrical appliances and other kitchen equipment. The third room is a play room, where children will be offered games that promote the rules of safe behavior. The school also has a bedroom. “Fires often occur in this room and the children have the opportunity to practically practice actions in the event of a fire. This is how it happened today during a lesson with children of the 3rd grade, a fire broke out in the bedroom, the room was filled with smoke in a matter of minutes and the children wasted no time left the room to the street and called the Rescue Service “101”, where they clearly reported the information about where the fire broke out,” the State Emergency Service said. Methodical materials for the “Safety School” were developed by UNICEF Ukraine together with the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. “We are sure that the “Safety School” will become a place where children will be able to learn important skills and rules of fire and mine safety and protect their lives and health,” the rescuers add.
