The government has created a service for children: what will it do?

The State Service for Children was created in Ukraine.
This body will implement state policy in the field of protection of children’s rights, social support of families with children, development of family forms of upbringing and adoption, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine reported, which made the relevant decision.
“Today, there are more than 7.5 million children in Ukraine, all of whom suffer from the effects of Russian aggression. Also, more than 65,000 children in Ukraine are orphans or deprived of parental care. Regardless of where the children are raised – in their native or adoptive family, all they need social support,” – they say in the government.
According to the Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine, Oksana Zholnovych, the government has created a body that “will take care of ensuring the rights of every child.” In particular, the implementation of the child’s right to live in the family and the quality work of institutions and bodies responsible for child care.

“Ukraine – not for boarding schools, as our President rightly noted. Therefore, we are strengthening the coordination of executive authorities, local self-government, services for children, so that every child can experience parental love.”– says Oksana Zholnovich.
The tasks of the newly created State Service for Children are:
- coordination of the provision of social support and services to families with children, in particular to those who are under guardianship or guardianship, to foster families, families of foster carers, family-type orphanages, and adoptive parents;
- monitoring of compliance by local executive bodies and local self-government bodies, enterprises, institutions and organizations, individuals with legislation on the protection of children’s rights;
- interaction with diplomatic institutions of Ukraine abroad to ensure the observance of the rights of children-citizens of Ukraine and their return home.
We will remind, in Bukovyna law enforcement officers are investigating improper conditions in the local boarding school.
