The government has adopted a number of decisions aimed at strengthening the protection of children’s rights. In particular, he provided an opportunity for foreigners who are married to citizens of Ukraine to adopt their spouse’s child during martial law. The relevant changes were approved by the Cabinet of Ministers on June 1, according to Taras Melnychuk, the representative of the government in the Verkhovna Rada. The government also settled the issue of: placement of orphans, children deprived of parental care, who were temporarily moved (evacuated) from institutions (regardless of the type, form of ownership and subordination), outside of Ukraine, in foster families, family-type orphanages and return such children to Ukraine; adoption of children who were temporarily moved (evacuated) from institutions (regardless of the type, form of ownership and subordination), outside of Ukraine, by Ukrainian citizens living in Ukraine; adoption into one family of brothers and sisters who were separated during the temporary relocation (evacuation) of one of them outside of Ukraine. In particular, the procedure for temporarily displaced children has been simplified. Now the status of a child injured as a result of hostilities and armed conflicts can be obtained not only from the territory of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, but also from the entire territory of Ukraine.
