A 56-year-old man from Kyiv tried to illegally cross the border with Hungary and took with him a camera trap of the border guards, which he saw on a tree. The camera recorded the violator’s route, so he was quickly found by border guards, the State Border Service reports. “A 56-year-old man from Kyiv showed great ingenuity when he tried to sneak into Hungary illegally. While running away from the border guards, the man noticed a camera trap and took it with him just in case. It turned out to be a shame: he didn’t run away himself, and the device recorded everything and transferred it to the right place,” – it is said in the message. The press service of the Chop border detachment says that the man took the camera with him so as not to leave evidence. “The man was walking to the border and stopped at the border itself. He hid for a while to monitor whether there was a border guard nearby. When he was sitting there, hiding in the bushes, he saw a camera trap on a tree. They are not very visible, but if you look for a while, then you can notice. He realized that it was some kind of camera that was filming him, and decided that if he removed it, there would be no traces. Probably, he thought that it was just recording,” the spokeswoman said. The camera captured the man walking to the border and removing the device. At that time, border guards were patrolling the area. After receiving information from the camera trap, the unit of the response team went to stop the man. The man will be prosecuted not only for an administrative, but also for a criminal offense. And after the theft, he was handed over to the National Police. He had documents with him, so I think that his they have already released him. But of course there will be a case, because it is theft. The case is further complicated by the fact that now is wartime,” the spokeswoman added. A notification was sent to the address of the Uzhhorod RUP of the GUNP in the Transcarpathian region about the detection of signs of the commission of a criminal offense, provided for in Part 4 of Art. 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (“Theft”). The materials in the case were sent to the court. If the court proves the guilt of the Kyivan, he faces a penalty of imprisonment for a term of 5 to 8 years. It will be recalled that earlier border guards detained evaders near Hungary, one of whom was disguised as a woman.
