One of those who suffered the greatest injuries is 26-year-old Olena Golubenko. The woman’s leg was amputated, now she is in a serious condition. The wife of the victim’s husband’s brother, Ksenia Golubenko, told “UP. Life” about the details of the enemy strike, and also shared information about the victim’s condition. “When I mourned Kakhovka every day and yesterday I thought that the worst was impossible to imagine, in the evening after training I will find out that the worst happens! Yesterday, a fragment of a rocket in Uman terribly injured my Lenochka,” Ksenia said. How everything happened, Ksenia Golubenko told us that at the time of the tragedy, Olena’s seven-year-old daughter was playing with her friend at the neighbor’s house. Her husband, who works as a truck driver, was in Odesa at that time. Olena was injured as a result of rocket fire. Photo: Ksenia Golubenko That day Olena went shopping at the local ATB supermarket. On the way, she was caught by an air alarm. There was nowhere to hide, there was only a car wash nearby. As Ksenia recounts, the victim was talking to her husband on the phone, noting that “apparently something is flying.” Immediately after her words, he heard an explosion, and the connection was instantly interrupted. Elena found herself near the epicenter of the arrival of the enemy missile. “The doctors provided help instantly,” Ksenia shared the story of relatives who were with Elena. All night long, the lives of the victims were saved in the Uman hospital. There she was operated on – doctors had to amputate her leg “up to the thigh”; blood transfusions were performed. The next day, in the morning, Olena came to her senses. After that, she was transferred to one of the hospitals in Kyiv. Currently, the woman is in intensive care, where doctors continue to fight for her life. “Lena is still very weak, the doctors do not make any predictions, she was the most affected of all,” – claims the victim’s relative. According to her, Elena’s father is going through the tragedy very hard. “Just imagine how incredibly painful it is to look at a tattered child, and he just recently buried his wife, Elena’s mother,” Ksenia adds. Olena is a kindergarten teacher by profession. “Lena is an incredible sunshine. She is the kind of person who always does good for everyone. At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, we together helped with the evacuation of relatives and friends from Kyiv. We lived with her in the same house during the COVID-19 pandemic. Of course, no one does not deserve, but if you ask what exactly she is for, no one will give an answer, Ksenia emphasizes. Currently, Elena’s family is looking for qualified doctors, in particular abroad, who will be able to help her with rehabilitation. “And they are asking for the advice of charitable foundations, who work with similar cases…Tears flow every second involuntarily…But I know they won’t help,” notes Ksenia.
