The organizers of the “Prosvetitel” award announced the long list of the “PolytProsvet” special award. The list includes 12 books written in Russian about the current social and political process.
Among others, the list includes “The End of the Regime” by Alexander Baunov, “Is it True” by Ilya Bera and other fact-checkers, “I want the ashes of my house” by feminist Daria Serenko, and the comic about the life of Andrei Sakharov “The Man Who Wasn’t Afraid” by Ksenia Novokhatko.
“The authors of the books included in the long list tried to make sense of socio-political events and processes in Russian society not only through the catastrophic present, but also in a historical perspective,” says the prize’s website.
By the end of September, the jury will present the “PolytProsveta” shortlist of five books. The jury included political scientist Ekaterina Shulman, historical memory researcher Nikolai Epple, and journalists Maksym Trudolyubov, Anna Narynskaya, and Alexander Gorbachev.
Earlier, the long list of the main award “Prosvetitel” was published – 20 new popular scientific books in Russian.
- The “Prosvetitel” award was established in 2008 by the founder and honorary president of the company “Vympelkom” Dmytro Zimin and the “Dynasty” non-commercial programs fund. Since 2016, it has been supported by the Zimin Foundation.
