The Lviv Archdiocese of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church banned the filming of videos in its churches without the permission of the archbishops after the scandal surrounding the video of Serhiy Zhadan and Khrystyna Solova.

This was announced by Archbishop and Metropolitan of Lviv Ihor Wozniak in an official statement on the website of the Lviv Archdiocese of the UGCC.

“I emphasize that today, October 27, the Basilian Order did not issue any other official statement, except for an apology for allowing the filming of the clip in the church of St. Andrew the Apostle. The archdiocesan government strongly condemns the actions that took place in the church of St. Andrew the Apostle.

In the future, without the blessing of the local hierarch, it is not allowed to shoot clips in temples! The faithful expect more specific actions and appropriate conclusions from the Basilian monks,” – the archbishop declared.

Previously, the group “Zhadan and Dogs” and Khrystyna Solovay shot the music video “Heart” in the Lviv Church of St. Andrew the First-Called.

However, after the video was released, the UGCC asked the musicians to remove it due to “anti-Christian values” – in particular, it depicted lesbian kisses. Reactions on the network were mixed.

After that, information spread on the network about the dismissal of the leadership of the church where the clip was filmed – this was reported by priest Justin Boyko.

However, the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church denied this statement and explained that the investigation is ongoing.

Also, Vasiliyana’s fathers stated that “they did not want to receive, and did not receive, any material reward for video filming in St. Andrew’s Church.”

“We do not take lightly the God-revealed truth about man, created male and female (Catechism of the Catholic Church, nn. 2331-2400).

From the beginning, the Vasiliyana Fathers have been making efforts so that distrust and contempt did not spread among people as a result of the slowness of our monks – for this we apologize.”– added the Lviv Vasiliyans.
