In Vinnytsia, the number of cases of viral hepatitis A has increased – 141 patients are in the hospital

The number of victims of viral hepatitis A is increasing in Vinnytsia, where 81 cases of the disease were recorded three days ago.
As of the evening of October 27, there are 141 patients in the hospital. Their condition is moderate, the Ministry of Health reports.
A team of epidemiologists and specialists of the Vinnytsia Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention and a response group of the Public Health Center of Ukraine are working on the spot.
“The epidemiological investigation and all the necessary examinations are ongoing. We already have the results of more than 150 samples from the environment in a comprehensive manner, additional inspections of spontaneous markets and water are being carried out. The source of the infection has not yet been established.”– say the Ministry of Health.

On October 29, a team of the Ministry of Health, led by the chief state sanitary doctor Ihor Kuzin, should come to Vinnytsia to study the situation on the spot and take all necessary measures to establish the source of infection.
“We will work together with the local authorities, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Emergency Service. We are keeping the situation under control.” – the Ministry of Health adds.
On October 25, 81 cases of viral hepatitis A were registered in Vinnytsia. Among the patients were 66 adults and 15 children.
We will remind you that viral hepatitis A is an inflammatory disease of the liver of viral origin, which can have both a mild and a severe course.
Hepatitis A in some individuals can cause damage to the kidneys, pancreas, can cause pain in the joints and even lead to death.
Emergency vaccination against hepatitis A is recommended within 2 weeks from the moment of contact with a sick person.
