Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov predicts that classes in the first underground school in the city’s Industrial District will begin in March. Earlier, he promised that the construction of the educational institution would be completed by the new year.

According to him, despite Russian shelling of the city, frost and bad weather, the construction is going according to schedule.

“Today, all the concrete structures have already been assembled, so now the work is focused on waterproofing and thermal insulation, the construction of sewage systems, water supply and installation of ventilation. The contractors promise to keep the set pace so that we can teach our children here from March.” – said the mayor.

By the way, in October, Ihor Terekhov noted that the construction of the underground school is planned to be completed by the new year. It will cost the city budget 58 million hryvnias.

The school in the Industrial district of the city will be able to accommodate 450 students. And so that a larger number of young Kharkiv residents could study offline, they plan to conduct training in two shifts. Thus, 900 students will be able to attend the underground school every day.

According to Terekhov, when the work on the first underground school is completed, the construction of the next such educational institution will begin in one of the central districts of the city.

We will remind you that currently Kharkiv schoolchildren can study offline only in the premises of six metro stations. As of the beginning of the academic year, there were enough underground classrooms for 60 classes.

Children go to school in two shifts. They are taken to the metro station by a school bus that operates on 34 routes. Children are accompanied by teachers.
