Volodymyr, a resident of Lviv Oblast, was diagnosed with cancer four times in 15 years. The man has already successfully overcome three oncological diseases, now he is fighting the fourth.
As reported in the Lviv Oncology Regional Treatment and Diagnostic Center, he is currently undergoing radiation therapy to destroy residual cancer cells on the parotid salivary gland.
At the age of 79, Volodymyr drives a car and comes to procedures on his own. The man hopes that soon he will completely overcome all ailments.

He was first diagnosed with early-stage kidney cancer in 2009. At that time, the patient had no health complaints, so the diagnosis came as a surprise to him.

Surgeons removed the malignant growth, but warned that the disease could return.
“After completion of treatment, patients are registered with an oncologist at their place of residence. But once a year we contact them and remind them about the examinations they should have. This is necessary in order not to miss the progression of the disease, to detect a relapse, or to confirm , that the disease has definitely receded“, explained urologist-oncologist Vasyl Kovalskyi.
Volodymyr also had concomitant diseases. A few years later, he had a stroke, and during an annual check-up, doctors discovered not only prostate cancer, but also an abnormal dissection of the aorta, which required immediate surgery.
Oncologists also performed a radical prostatectomy on the man – and the cancer retreated a second time.
“My body did not react to the disease. I didn’t have any complaints, and if the specialists here at the hospital hadn’t examined me so carefully, I probably wouldn’t be here anymore“, says Mr. Volodymyr without holding back tears.

The husband was diagnosed with oncology twice more in different organs. Doctors emphasize: these diseases are not related to each other. They cannot be predicted – oncology can be detected only during examinations by qualified doctors.
