The Ministry of Culture included the rite of chasing vipers into intangible heritage

The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy added 3 new items to the National List of Elements of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Ukraine. As reported on the MKIP website, these are:
- “Chasing Vipers” rite from Iskra village of Velikonovosilkiv district of Donetsk region and Nizhnyduvanska community of Svativ district of Luhansk region;
- Practice on the protection of traditional crafts and folk art;
- The rite of braiding a wedding braid from the village of Bilokurakyne, Svativ district, Luhansk region.
The order was published on the website of the Cabinet of Ministers.
The Ministry of Culture did not specify the details of these ceremonies, whether they are under threat due to Russian aggression. The agency only illustrated the message with photographs without captions, which were probably taken during the mentioned actions.

The national list of elements of the intangible cultural heritage is maintained for the fulfillment of Article 12 of the UNESCO Convention. New elements are included in the list based on the recommendations of the Expert Council on Intangible Cultural Heritage, which operates under the ICIP.
