The Ministry of Education and Science offered German partners to create Ukrainian language electives in their educational institutions.

On November 8, the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Oksen Lisovyi, together with the Federal Minister of Education and Research of Germany, Bettina Stark-Watzinger, signed the Declaration “On Intentions for Cooperation in the Field of Science, Technology and Innovation” and discussed the details of cooperation, the Ministry of Education and Culture reports.

Lisovyi proposed to German partners to create Ukrainian language electives in their educational institutions, so that children from Ukraine, who were forced to move abroad due to the full-scale invasion of Russia, would have the opportunity to additionally study their native language.

The MES believes that such a decision will support schoolboys and schoolgirls, as well as enable them to preserve their national identity.

This agreement is also the foundation for concluding a new agreement in the field of science, technology and innovation between Ukraine and Germany next year“, the MES noted.
