The Ministry of Justice said how many couples got married on Valentine’s Day

According to the Ministry of Justice, 700 couples got married on this year’s Valentine’s Day.

Kyiv became the leader in terms of the number of submitted applications for marriage registration that day. 111 couples got married in the capital.

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast (70 marriages) was in second place, followed by Odesa Oblast (64 marriages).

The West of Ukraine was also not far behind: 44 couples planned to get married in the Lviv region.

42 marriages were also registered in Kyiv region, and another 32 in Vinnytsia region.

In total, more than 186,000 couples got married in 2023. And for January of this year – 9,326 pairs.

“Love will win the war! And we remind you that the martial law in force in Ukraine is the reason for shortening the period between submitting an application and registering a marriage to 1 day”, – the Ministry of Justice notes.

As a reminder, an online marriage service will soon appear in the “Diya” application: Ukrainians will be able to get married even via video link.
