The National Bank dedicated commemorative coins to the heroic defenders of Ukraine

The National Bank presented a new commemorative moment “Defender”, dedicated to Ukrainian women who defended the Motherland.
This was reported on the website of the NBU.
“Ukrainian women defenders, on a par with men, fight with the same strength, courage and dedication – scouts, sappers, snipers, paramedics, communications… Today, in their honor and on the occasion of the Day of Defenders of Ukraine, we presented commemorative coins of “Defenders”.
The design of the coin clearly demonstrates the transformation that Ukrainian women went through before and after the start of the war. A woman, a mother, a protector takes up a weapon in order to protect her own. Let these coins also become a certain artistic fixation of the fact that Ukrainian women are special. Your courage adds confidence in the Victory of Ukraine“, said the Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine Andrii Pyshnyi.

The design of the coins was created by the artist Maryna Kuts.
The obverse side of the coin depicts a symbolic composition that demonstrates the courage and freedom-loving Ukrainian women.
On the reverse side of the coin, on a mirror background, there is a composition symbolizing the femininity of Ukrainian women defenders. On the left – stylized waves of women’s hair braided; on the right – outlines of a female figure in a sheet.
On October 2, 2023, the National Bank introduced “Zakhisnytsia” coins in denominations of 5 and 10 hryvnias. They continue the “Immortal My Ukraine” series.
