Acting director of the Holodomor Museum, Lesya Hasydzhak, filed a lawsuit to protect her dignity and business reputation.
In the summer, she was harassed for her appearance: hinting that a woman could not head the Museum because of her weight.
Now Hasyjak demands to recognize the information as discriminatory, unreliable and to compensate for the damage, the non-governmental organization “Yurferm” reported.
The team of lawyers Oksana Guz, Maryna Sayenko, Khrystyna Kit and Marta Zmysla filed a corresponding lawsuit in the Holosiivsky District Court of Kyiv.

“The logical conclusion of the long preparation and formation of the requirements of the claim statement, after the hate and body shaming suffered by Lesya Hasidzhak, the claim statement was submitted to the court.
We understand that this is a rather difficult and painful process for society as a whole, but we insist on the impossibility of discriminating against any person on any grounds. We are waiting for the opening of proceedings and an interesting trial“, said lawyer Oksana Guz.
She added that discrimination and manipulation of false information should be punished.
“Both during the first wave of hate and after it subsided, I received hundreds of messages from women with words of support for my actions – transferring communication with the offender and society into the legal field.
Many of them shared their own traumatic experiences of being humiliated because of their appearance or because they were women in leadership positions. Therefore, my lawsuit is not only a defense of my honor, but also support for other women and a clear position: to remain silent is to free the hands of new haters.”, – noted Lesya Hasydzhak.
