National Museum of the History of Ukraine announced the collection of funds for the dismantling of the self-built “temple-mafu” on the territory of the Museum of the History of Ukraine.

The institution reported this in its statement Facebook.

Dear friends! The National Museum of the History of Ukraine needs your help. We are often asked: when the spontaneous construction on the land plot of the National Museum of the History of Ukraine, known as the “MAF church”, is dismantled. We answer: this issue can be resolved in the near future, but it is necessary to overcome one more (hopefully, the last) stage on this path“, the museum said in a statement.

They emphasized that despite the court’s decision on the need to demolish the illegal building, representatives of the Moscow Patriarchate have still not fulfilled the judge’s order.

Today, the only way to fulfill the court decision and remove garbage from the territory of the museum is to advance the costs of enforcement proceedings on behalf of the collector – the museum, involving a specialized company that has a permit to carry out works related to increased danger“, the museum explained.

They reported that, according to their calculations, the preliminary estimate for the dismantling and removal of garbage will cost 772 thousand hryvnias. Therefore, they called on everyone who cares to support the collection.

The majority of commentators supported the initiative of the Museum of the History of Ukraine. As of the evening of April 8, the bank managed to collect 91.8 thousand hryvnias. Many people suggest that the museum organize a big party, which they are ready to participate in.

About the illegal “temple-maf”

Arbitrary seizure by representatives of the Moscow Patriarchate of the plot near the Tithing Church began in 2008.

Initially, the building had the appearance of three kiosks, and in 2012, during the time of Viktor Yanukovych, the construction began to be “legalized”. The religious organization did not have any permits for the construction and use of the land plot.

From 2020, the National Museum of the History of Ukraine, which is located nearby, demanded the demolition of the “maf temple” with its lawsuit.

On February 15, 2023, the Commercial Court of the city of Kyiv made a decision in the case of an illegal “temple-mafu” on the territory of the National Museum of the History of Ukraine obliged to free the site from illegal construction.

In September 2023, the illegality of spontaneous construction was confirmed by the Northern Commercial Court of Appeal. He also ordered to demolish the building at the expense of those who built it.

From October 2, 2023, this decision is at the stage of enforcement. According to the museum, the violator’s accounts have been seized since October 2023, but the executive service has not found funds that can be debited for the dismantling of the “mafu temple”.
