The Nobel Prize in Sweden took place to the accompaniment of a Ukrainian composer

On December 10, during the Nobel Prize-2023 awarding ceremony in Stockholm, the music of Ukrainian composer Valentin Sylvestrov was performed.

The ceremony was opened by the composition “Evening Serenade” from the series “Silent Music”. The melody was played after the speech of the Swedish film expert, chairman of the board of directors of the Nobel Foundation Astrid Soderberg Widding.

Sylvestrov’s composition became one of the eight works that the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra chose for the gala event.

By the way, 86-year-old Valentin Sylvestrov is one of the most famous modern Ukrainian composers, People’s Artist of Ukraine, laureate of the Shevchenko Prize, honorary doctor of the Kyiv-Mohyla and Ostroh Academies, holder of the Order of Merit III degree, the Order of Yaroslav the Wise.

We will remind the laureates of the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 2023 were scientists who contributed to the development of effective mRNA vaccines against COVID-19.

And chemists Mungi Bawendi, Louis Brus and Oleksiy Yekimov received the Nobel Prize for the discovery and development of quantum dots.

Also, the 2023 Nobel laureate in the field of physics, Ferenc Kraush, promised to spend his prize on charity and help Ukrainians.
