The first tourist trip to the moon, planned for 2023, has been delayed indefinitely.

This was announced on Twitter by Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa, who was to become one of the space tourists, writes The Messenger.

The first planned tourist trip to the moon is a joint project of Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa and Elon Musk’s SpaceX company called dearMoon.

dearMoon was supposed to launch into space in 2023, but Maezawa said the mission “will take a little longer.”

“We’re not sure when the flight will take place, but we’ll give you an update as soon as we know more.”he added.

The postponement of the flight is due to numerous delays in the second test launch of Starship, the experimental SpaceX rocket that was supposed to take tourists to the moon.

Although the space agency NASA allocated SpaceX billions of dollars to develop Starship as part of the Artemis program, the first launch ended in failure.

It will be recalled that on April 20, the rocket exploded after a few minutes of flight, and debris fell and seriously damaged the launch pad. They also fell on houses and beaches, in particular, on habitats of endangered animals.

In September, the US Federal Aviation Administration concluded its investigation into the incident and ruled that SpaceX must make 63 structural fixes to the craft before it can begin a second test.
