The legislation prohibits the production of individual license plates with the letters “Z” and “V”, which allude to the symbols of the occupiers. This was reported in the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. We are talking about license plates that are made according to the individual orders of the owners. According to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of April 21, 2023, it is prohibited to use the letters “Z” and “V” separately, as well as in words written in Cyrillic instead of “З”, “С”, “В”, “Ф”. Examples of the use of letters in license plates The prohibition also applies to the symbols of the communist totalitarian and national socialist (Nazi) regimes. Ukrainian license plates cannot have the emblems of state bodies of the Russian Federation and the Russian armed forces: ground forces, aerospace forces, navy, strategic missile forces, etc. As the police explain, there are other reasons for refusing to produce a set of individual license plates. For example, you cannot use the full or abbreviated name of the state authority, depict the state symbols of Ukraine and other countries or international organizations. Inscription of non-normative origin or discriminatory character based on language, national, religious and racial characteristics will also be refused.
