The Rector of NAU Lutskyi has gathered for service in the Armed Forces: what can this mean

The rector of the National Aviation University (NAU) and ex-regional Maksym Lutskyi said that he is going to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and plans to serve in air defense.
“I have a relevant military specialty“, the rector wrote.
According to Lutskyi, he made the relevant decision “not today”.
“But I am informing about him now, when almost all formal and organizational procedures have been successfully completed.” he said.

However, Lutskyi’s statement about mobilization was preceded by information that the Government plans to reorganize the NAU.
In particular, as a source in the Ministry of Education and Culture informed “UP. Life”, the NAU is planned to be divided into two structures: the State University “Kyiv Aviation Institute” and a separate institution called the Ukrainian State Aviation Academy (Kropyvnytskyi).

The university also stated that they want to transfer the Aviation Academy to the Kharkiv National University of the Air Force named after Ivan Kozhedub, however, as noted by the Ministry of Education and Science, the university does not have the relevant authority to do so.

Yuliya Balyuk, a lawyer and head of the Committee of the National Association of Lawyers of Ukraine on Regulatory Policy, told about this in a comment to “UP. Life”. She noted that due to the fact that the rector of the higher education institution is leaving for the ZSU in the university, according to the statute, elections for a new head should be scheduled.
Maksym Lutskyi should hand over his affairs to him, since he will not be able to manage the university because of his service.
Also, according to her, due to service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the court can suspend any proceedings and cases against a person, in particular criminal ones.

Lutskyi headed NAU in 2021 after Serhii Shkarlet became Minister of Education and Science.

In July 2023, the Minister of Education, Oksen Lisovyi, signed an order announcing a reprimand to Maksym Lutskyi due to his violation of the requirements of the education legislation and the requirements of the contract.
