The Smilya prosecutor’s office managed to return to the state the complex of buildings of the former sanatorium, located in the “Mykhaylova Gora” nature reserve in the village of Prokhorivka, in the Cherkasy region.

As reported in the Office of the General Prosecutor, the sanatorium, which once belonged to the trade union association “Ukrprofozdoronytsia”, was illegally sold to a resident of the Kyiv region in 2020. Due to the lack of proper care and investment by the owner, the condition of the buildings has deteriorated.

“In order to preserve the sanatorium complex, the prosecutor’s office appealed to the court with a claim for its claim in favor of the state. The court of first instance refused to grant the claim. The prosecutor’s office appealed the court decision and proved the illegality of the disposal of the property.” – the message says.

Now the court decided that the complex of buildings of the former sanatorium, which is located in the park-reserve “Mykhaylova Gora”, will be transferred to the state.

In general, the sanatorium complex, which once housed the family estate of the famous Ukrainian scientist Mykhailo Maksymovych, consists of 31 buildings.

They were built in the 1970s on an area of ​​2,600 square meters. The cost of the complex is over 300 million hryvnias.

“Once upon a time, Prokhorivka was a favorite place of the Ukrainian intelligentsia. Taras Shevchenko and Mykola Gogol came to Mykhailo Maksymovych’s estate on Mykhailova Gora” – noted in the Prosecutor General’s Office.

It was in Prokhorivka, in 1859, Kobzar spent his last free days before his arrest. A month later, he was released, but forced to leave the territory of Ukraine.
