The secretary of the Kolomyia City Council was dismissed from his post. Last year, he was criticized for insulting a female deputy.
The official Andrii Kunychak compared the woman to a “witch”, and the ombudsman recognized this as “discrimination on the basis of gender”.
Recently, the city council prematurely terminated the powers of the secretary, reported the Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets.
“According to information disseminated in the mass media, during a meeting of the Kolomyia City Council in November of last year, the secretary of this council used statements that humiliate a woman, violate her right to respect for honor and dignity, and affect her business reputation as a member of the city council.
Later, she turned to me and was injured herself, after which proceedings were opened in this case.” Lubinets wrote.

The standing commission considered the issue of unethical behavior of the secretary, taking into account the recommendations of the ombudsman.
Both parties were present. The Kolomyia City Council decided to prematurely terminate the powers of Secretary Kunychak.
“Any kind of discrimination is a violation of human rights!” – emphasizes Lubinets.
We will remind you that the incident happened in November of last year in Ivano-Frankivsk region during the session of the city council. Then the deputies planned to consider the issue of early termination of the secretary’s powers.
During his speech from the podium, Kunychak turned to deputy Halyna Beli with the words: “Please, don’t look at me like that!” To her question “How?” he answered: “Like a witch!”.
A number of mass media wrote about Kunychak’s statement, and Halyna Belya herself registered a petition for the early termination of his powers.
