The Verkhovna Rada unblocked the signing of draft law No. 7457 on the legalization of medical cannabis.
People’s deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported this. He noted that Resolution No. 7457-p, which blocked the signing of the document, “failed.” Apparently, the People’s Deputies did not find enough votes to support it.
This resolution was registered by people’s deputies from the “Batkivshchyna” party on December 22. It made it impossible for the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada and the President to sign the approved draft law. Only her rejection made it possible to unlock this possibility.
In addition, the resolution postponed the entry into force of the draft law until approximately July 2024.

We will remind you that the draft law on the legalization of medical cannabis was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada in the second reading on December 21. It was supported by 248 people’s deputies.
This bill allows the use of medical cannabis in medicine, science and industry.
The law will allow patients with serious illnesses to use drugs based on medical cannabis as prescribed by a doctor. In particular, thanks to this, the illegal purchase of such drugs should decrease.
