In Mariupol, the family met a full-scale invasion. Oleksiy’s whole family worked at the factory at that time “Azovstal“.
“On February 24, his unit destroyed more than 15 units of enemy equipment. Oleksiy received a shrapnel wound and was evacuated to Azovstal, where he continued the fight”the border guards report.

The man last saw the family in the basement, where they were hiding, on March 8.
On May 16, when the evacuation of the wounded from “Azovstali“, Oleksiy was taken to the colony in Sverdlovsk, in the Luhansk region.
There he learned that the Russian military had been visiting his family, threatening and looking for Oleksiy.
It is noted that Olga did not want to leave Mariupol because she was afraid that her husband would not know where to look for her and her daughter.
In the fall of 2022, Oleksiy was transferred to another colony. Olga and the baby, having lost hope of contacting her husband, decided to evacuate the city.

Later, Oleksiy was exchanged – the family was reunited.
After returning, Oleksiy was awarded an order “For courage“ III degree.
