The story of a soldier who lost both wars at the front and after prosthetics wants to join the army again

Military serviceman Serhiy Denisov lost both legs at the front, after which he underwent more than 20 operations and months of rehabilitation.

At the same time, the man retained his sense of humor and the desire to continue chasing the enemy, the First Medical Association reports.

29-year-old Serhiy from Vyshgorod, Kyiv region, joined the army after the Russian occupation of Crimea. It did not succeed immediately.

Serhiy was of limited use in wartime, so he was rejected 8 times by the Military Commissariat. After all, in 2015, he joined the ranks of the voluntary formation.

In the summer of 2022, Serhiy got married, and spent his “honeymoon” fighting for the Kharkiv region. At the beginning of autumn, the man was injured.

The fighter was blown up by several mines at once, as a result of which he lost both legs.

“I screamed in pain so that all the surrounding villages could hear. While I was being carried, I asked to be finished. I knew what I was going for. But I did not know that it would hurt so much.”– says Serhiy.

The pain continued for another four months, during which Sergiev underwent more than 20 operations and many blood transfusions.

According to doctors, the most difficult task was to save the warrior’s knee and avoid additional reamputation. When it succeeded, Serhiy was sent for rehabilitation and prosthetics.

“Months without movement immobilized Serhiy’s joint, his knee does not bend – this is called a contracture. To remove it, he works out with a physical therapist every day.”– reported in the medical association.

During Serhiy’s treatment, a Russian rocket hit his apartment. The couple no longer has their own home.

Now the soldier’s wife is by his side every day. The woman jokingly says that she is in a day hospital. Supports in everything and even in the desire of the husband to continue military service.

Serhii does not know how mobile he will be on artificial limbs, but he is sure that he will find his place in the army.

After rehabilitation, the man plans to return to the army

“Human desires are stronger than anything. Loss of limbs – it is not the end of life. There are prostheses, there are many options.” – adds Serhiy.

It will be recalled that the serviceman who was seriously wounded in mid-February 2023, when a bullet stuck near his heart, recovered and returned to the front.
