“The enemy stormed our positions. They used everything: ammunition, drones and even prohibited chemical weapons,” – he remembers that fight.

The Russians, who were several meters away from the Ukrainian positions, fired a grenade into the dugout. Then Ivan felt a sharp pain and saw that his arm was hanging. The man put on the tourniquet on his own and headed to the evacuation point.

However, due to constant artillery fire from the enemy, the evacuation vehicle could not take the wounded for a long time. Only 7 hours after applying the tourniquet, the paramedics managed to take Ivan out.

During this time, the fighter lost a lot of blood. His arm had been drained of blood for too long, so the doctors had no choice but to amputate the limb.

The defender is currently working daily with a physical therapist on his recovery.

Ivan, who in his peaceful life was a builder, wants to return to the house he built himself and be close to his two daughters.
