The government supported the joining of the Ukrainian Academy of Printing to the Lviv Polytechnic National University, and the Mykolaiv Astronomical Observatory Research Institute to the Main Astronomical Observatory of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
Such decisions were made by the Cabinet of Ministers as part of the modernization of the network of higher education institutions and scientific institutions, informs Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Oksen Lisovyi.
“The main goal of these decisions is to improve the quality of higher education, increase the efficiency of the work of scientific institutions and create powerful educational and scientific centers”, – says the head of the Ministry of Education and Culture.
The joining of the Ukrainian Academy of Typography to the National University “Lviv Polytechnic” provides that a separate faculty named UAD will be formed on the basis of the “LP” National University. Within its limits, the educational and scientific activities of the academy will continue, and its non-specialist programs will be harmonized with similar programs at the Lviv Polytechnic.
Students of UAD will continue to get an education in the chosen specialties and educational programs. The training conditions (form of funding, contract amount/budget location) will be preserved for them.
“At the same time, studying at a larger university for students also means access to a wider range of specialized and qualified teachers, disciplines to study and a better material and technical base”– emphasizes the minister.
The decision to join the Scientific Research Institute “Mykolaiv Astronomical Observatory” to the Main Astronomical Observatory of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine is explained by the fact that such a step will allow the institute to develop.
In particular, this will help increase the ability to attract additional funding for research, strengthen human resources and expand the material and technical base.
Currently, the Mykolaiv Astronomical Observatory participates in the filling of international astronomical databases, in ground support programs for space missions, as well as in the implementation of targeted complex space research programs of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the State Space Agency of Ukraine, the Ministry of Education and Culture says.
