The educational committee of the Verkhovna Rada proposed to direct the funds allocated for the awards for the best participants of the external independent evaluation, which was canceled this year, to the defense of Ukraine in the war with Russia. This was announced by the Chairman of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Education, Science and Innovation, Serhiy Babak. On May 29, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a general resolution “On the Prize of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to the best participants in the external independent assessment of learning results obtained on the basis of complete general secondary education.” According to her, the prize money, which was supposed to reward the best participants of the ZNO, will be directed to the war. Photo: photographee.eu/Depositphotos “Due to the fact that the ZNO will be replaced by the NMT this year, the Resolution cannot be implemented, therefore the Committee recommended redistributing UAH 5 million, provided as the monetary part of the award, to the implementation of measures to repel Russia’s military aggression against of Ukraine and the protection of the state,” Serhii Babak wrote. We would like to remind you that the awards for the participants of the ZNO, who passed the exam with “excellence” were introduced at the beginning of 2021.
