The official trailer of the film is out “House “Slovo”: An endless novel” director Taras Tomenko, which tells about the writers of the Shot Renaissance. The authors of the film also announced that it will be released May 9th.

The feature film was a continuation of Tomenko’s previous work –
documentary film “The Word House”, which was released in 2017. In this film, which was also released, the director used documentary and archival footage to tell the story of the destruction of a whole generation of Ukrainian artists by the Soviet authorities, as well as voiced the letters of literary residents of Kharkiv’s “Slovo House”.

This film by Tomenko in 2018 received the “Golden Dziga” as the best documentary film.

In December 2017, Derzhkino announced the start of production feature film “House “Slovo”: An endless novel”. The following year, filming began in Kyiv. At that time, it was reported that in 2019 the film was planned to be submitted to State Cinema and shown at world festivals. And at the end of 2019 – at the beginning of 2020, it will be widely distributed.

However, the world premiere took place in 2021 at the 37th Warsaw Film Festival. And the Ukrainian one – in another year, on June 17, 2022, at the Mykolaychuk OPEN festival in Chernivtsi. Since then, the film could only be seen at individual festival screenings.

I worked on this project with my team for more than 10 years. And for good reason. This is a long and difficult road for the writers of the Shot Revival to return from oblivion“, Tomenko is quoted in the description under the trailer.

The director of the trailer of the feature film was the co-founder of the MUR project Oleksandr Khomenko. At the end of February, the group released an album about the poets of the Shot Renaissance and the residents of the House “Slovo” – “You [Романтика]”, in which he used sound fragments from the movie “The Word House: The Neverending Romance” in the compositions, as well as footage for the visuals for the album.

The film tells the story of Ukrainian writers of the era of the “Shooted Revival”, who are gathered under the roof of one building in Kharkiv and try to force them to work for the benefit of the system. The artists’ refusal to cooperate turns the false communist paradise into repression, shootings, and persecution.

The authors of the script are director Taras Tomenko and poet Lyubov Yakymchuk. The music for the film was created by composer Alla Zagaykevych.
