There is no new strain of COVID-19 Pirola in Ukraine yet – Kuzin

The new strain of COVID-19, which was named Pirola (or BA.2.86), has not yet been detected in Ukraine.
This was announced by the Chief Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine Ihor Kuzin.
“We do not rule out that a new variant of the coronavirus infection will appear on the territory of Ukraine. Considering that thousands of Ukrainians who were forced to leave their homes due to the war will arrive or return home from countries where there is already a new strain“, he noted.
Symptoms the new strain has the same as the others:

- cold;
- headache;
- fatigue;
- sneezing and sore throat;
- less often – eye irritation and rashes.
This strain was recorded for the first time in Israel. Currently, more than 100 thousand cases are known in many countries of the world: in Great Britain, USA, South Africa, Sweden, France, Portugal, Canada, Thailand, Switzerland and Australia.
Earlier, Kuzin noted that monitoring of the epidemiological situation and detection of new strains will continue in Ukraine.
He also reminded that the only effective way to ensure immunity against COVID-19 is vaccination.
The total recommended course for the primary vaccination against COVID-19 and the first booster is 3 vaccinations.
